| In Art this week, Susan taught the children how to make mosaics using seeds. It was a great multi step lesson. |
| Susan illustrates the steps to the children every week. We are very excited to see how the children have learned that they need to wait and watch before they begin their individual projects. |
| Laura and Anna are drawing the figures for their mosaics. This step required the children to use fine motor skills as well as an understanding of how they could combine different shapes to make closed figures. |
| Matthew and Max are on the second step of the mosaic. Susan gave the children a variety of seeds to use on their mosaics. The discussions at the tables were very lively as the children exclaimed, " The seeds are big, little, flat, round, bumpy, and smooth." |
| Jack and Jonah are very focused on painting the glue as they add the seeds to their mosaics. Next week, we will see the finished project! |
| We went from art to P.E. where the children played a game with hula hoops. Once again they were given several directions to follow before they gave their bodies a workout! |
| Coach Brandy had the children turning their hula hoops and moving as they were pretending to drive. |
| When Coach Brandy called out "Red light!", the children had to stop and hold their hula hoops in place. |
| This was the final step in the game. When Coach Brandy said, " Flat tire ", the children had to sit in their hula hoops. Movement and fun wrapped up in one game! |
| This week in gan Heidi talked to the children about Naamah, Noahs's wife. While Noah was busy bringing animals to the Ark, God asked Naamah to gather seeds. After listening to the story, the children were asked to use their thinking skills to help Heidi dress Naamah. Sammie said that Naamah need a ponytail. Heidi used corn husks to fashion the ponytail. |
| Then Heidi posed the question of dressing Naamah. |
| The boys decided to add a skirt by helping Heidi wrap material around Naamah. |
| After the skirt, everyone wanted to help with the making of the apron that would hold the seeds that Naamah would carry to the Ark. The completed biblical figure is in the garden right outside our door. When you bring your child to class, ask them how they helped to make Naamah. | |
Art, P.E. and Gan all provided the children with the opportunities to follow directions, use their imaginations, motor skills, language skills and math skills. They also added to their knowledge of lessons from the Torah and most of all they are becoming a community by learning to share ideas and work and play together!
