Spring Shots

Waiting to compost.....Cheryl couldn't find time to take this big bowl from the kitchen to the compost area so we were happy to help.  We weren't sure if corn husks and avocado pits could be composted.  Doing a good deed and learning something new at the same time.
What are you thankful for in our beautiful gan?  The kids had a quiet bit of reflection before sharing their ideas.
A morning challenge....putting the puzzle together while laying on your tummy builds strength in your body's core.
Another morning challenge.  We are making numbers apply to real life  by asking the children to write down the age of this woman.  Later in the day we asked them to figure out if their guess was higher or lower than the real age (84).
Each day the leader will add a word to our list of things cowboys and cowgirls need.  Then we try to sound that word out together.  As we go along and the more obvious words are used, the children will have to think back to stories and pictures we have seen.  This is great for vocabulary enhancement!  The children are really enjoying their  focus on Texas and the wild west!
Adding a different color cup to our collection....Fine motor,  careful balancing and fun.

Here are a few pictures of some of the activities we do with Marnie.

The 3 boys are working on a vertical plane.  By pressing down with one hand to secure the colored tracer, and using the other hand to color, they are working bi-laterally.
Working with tongs and magic noodles to create an X on their paper.  So many skills....multi-step directions, crossing the midline when you make an X, getting that magic noodle securely in your tongs and most importantly,  NOT letting that noodle slip into the water and dissolve!  The children really felt proud of themselves when they completed this task.

James David and Charlie are often in the housekeeping area, "cooking" something interesting and involving everyone who steps near them with pots, spatulas and new plans.  Today they decided to dress up for the occasion!
In finishing with our spring shots, we wanted to show that even in specials our children demonstrate the "Curious George Spirit" as they test their balance and imaginations when playing with giant Frisbees!
