Apples Rock!

Add a scale, 2 green apples and rocks of different sizes and you have a terrific math lesson.    The cool thing about the green apples was that even though they were about the same size, one was much denser than the other.  The challenge was for the kids to add rocks to the basket with the lighter apple  so that the scale would balance.  Much tougher for 4 year olds than it looks, and we saw so much teamwork, problem solving,  planning and conversation happening so naturally along the way too.
