Top Chefs in Culinary Arts!

Thursday was our first time to go to Culinary Art. The cucumbers from the Gan were used in this lesson. Cheryl taught the children how to make a tasty cucumber salad!
Cheryl and Jonah showed the mini chefs how to peel the cucumbers. Bok choy  was the second ingredient for our salad. The chefs were given either cucumbers or bok choy to slice and dice.
Sophia, Lukas, Charlie and Matthew are very busy as they began to slice and dice. Their little hands were very adept as they used the special plastic knives that are in our kitchen.
Charlie, Sammie, Max and Jack used their individual styles to cut their vegetables. They gave the muscles in their fingers, hands, arms and shoulders quite a workout!
James David and Laura are experienced choppers.
Anna made quick work of her cucumber and was ready for the next step in the recipe!
Cheryl and Anna taught the mini chefs how to squeeze some lime into their salads. This tool was great for our gross and fine motor skills.
Cheryl tossed the cucumber, bok choy , lime and a pinch of salt to finish our salad.
All  top chefs taste their food!
Everyone had fun tasting their salad. "Hmm"....Do I like this? We are so excited about the children having the opportunity to go to Culinary Art in our beautiful new kitchen. Cooking helps the children develop their fine and large  motor skills with different tools . As the children listen to directions, they build their auditory sequencing skills. They also add new vocabulary to their language which they can use as they socialize and work as a class.  They will practice math skills as they measure, weigh and compare ingredients.  Do you think Bobby Flay started this way?
