So many different kinds of learning in just one week!

Take some pipe cleaners, beads and  a kitchen colander and you've got a great challenge for our Curious George class.  How can you make your pipe cleaner look like the green one....both ends of the pipe cleaner coming up from underneath.  Matthew placed one end in the colander and then tried, repeatedly, to "fish"  the other end out.  His perseverance paid off and he completed the challenge.
Sammie tried for a bit and then...the light bulb went off...and she just picked up the colander!
Laura put one end in the colendar and just brought the other end up from the bottom and twisted the pieces together on the side.  There are many different ways to "solve the problem".  We think providing opportunities like this is a way to encourage out of the box thinking and a "stick to it" attitude, great lessons for life.  As always, the children were up to the challenge.
Our new question mark job is inspired by Purim groggers.  Each day we place different objects in two plastic eggs.  We shake one and then the other.  Then we put both eggs behind our back, pull out just one, and shake it. The child's job is to tell us whether is was the first or second egg.   Sometimes this is very easy and other times the sounds are similar, requiring everyone to be silent and to really concentrate.
The woodworking table was rediscovered this week and it was a very busy spot!
What a terrific Shabbat snack,  Challah, a fruit kabob and green yogurt  since our color of the month is green.  Thank you Natalie and Charlie.
Lukas and Matthew are having an intense conversation about how to get the lego pieces apart.
Counting magna tiles...Sammie must be wondering who has the most.
Shelly found an abandoned kitty, just a few weeks old.  Look how tiny it is!
What does this kitty need since it has no mother?
The children listened intently.
Our class had Rose, the mitzvah bear.  (This bear is making the rounds of each classroom in our school, much as it has done in so many Reform congregational schools throughout the country.)  The little kitty loved to snuggle with the soft, furry Rose.  It was a good time to talk about the Jewish mitzvah of taking care of animals and we appreciate all the blankets we received for the kitty.
Rose spent some time watching the kids in the sensory table too.

Hooray for mitzvot and a wonderful week.  The children are glad to be back with their friends!
