Examining Leaves as We Get Ready for Sukkot!

Last week we began  an art project which will become Fall leaves. On Thursday, we connected our art project to science and nature.  We went into the Gan where we examined a variety of leaves. We discussed how the veins  carry nutrition through leaves and how the stem holds the leaf to the branch, much like the stem of the apple. We also talked about why leaves change color and fall to the ground.   The children had a wonderful time being scientists as they explored  the variety of  leaves in the Gan!  Back in the room we traced and cut leaves from our yellow/orange/red painted paper.  We'll take some to proudly hang in the Temple Sukkah while the others will hang from the branch in our room.
