Rabbi Allenberg and the Torah!

After we celebrated Sukkot, we went to the Chapel to learn about the Torah with Rabbi Allenberg, and the Pig, Mouse and Moose class.  Rabbi Allenberg stood at the Ark and showed the children the Torahs. He brought one Torah to the children and spoke to them about the Torah's cover, crown, breastplate and pointer. Then, he told the children that he would let them hold the Torah. The children knew that this was very special as they all listened very carefully to Rabbi Allenberg's directions. The children watched as Rabbi Allenberg talked about the Hebrew words, and explained that when we come to the Torah we use the pointer. During the lesson, the children were full of questions... " How many words are in the Torah?"  " How long does it take to read the Torah?" We thanked Rabbi Allenberg for the beautiful lesson ! This week as the children made each part of the Torah they remembered Rabbi Allenberg's words.  They were ready to be Torahs and participate in the festive holiday of Simchat Torah!
