| On Wednesday, the children were treated to a presentation by local beekeepers,Brandon and Susan Pollard. They children were well prepared for the visit as Heidi has been teaching them about honeybees and pollination. Today they learned that bees are part of a community. Bees can't build a hive or make honey unless they cooperate and work as a team. When the beekeepers showed them pictures of the queen bee, the worker bee, and the drone the children were able to ask questions. After the presentation, the children moved from table to table as they looked at things that are made from bees. They looked at honey, candles, and soap that were all from the honeybees. Max was doing one of the jobs of the beekeeper as he pretended to brush pollen off of Charlie. The visit by the beekeepers was a great culminating activity for the children as they were able to connect the sweet learning of Rosh Hashanna to the importance of seeing bees as an important part of nature. To end our day, we included Charlie's " show and share". His yellow raincoat and hat made all of us smile and think about the wonderful day of learning that we had as a member of the Curious George class! |
